Who we are

Inqilab Moncho UK is the British platform of a movement born from Bangladesh's July 2024 Uprising — the student-led revolt that ended fifteen years of authoritarian rule. From the United Kingdom, our role is to inform the international community, the press, and human-rights bodies about what happened in Bangladesh, what is still happening at its borders, and what justice requires.

We are, at once, three things: a human-rights advocacy voice grounded in documented evidence; a sovereignty movement that defends Bangladesh's independence and territorial integrity; and a memorial for those who gave their lives. We reject violence against any community, and we stand for the equal rights of every Bangladeshi — Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Buddhist alike.

Justice

Accountability, not revenge

Independent investigation and lawful trial for the crimes of July 2024 and the killings at the border. We follow the evidence, and we cite our sources.

Sovereignty

An independent Bangladesh

We defend Bangladesh's territorial integrity and oppose foreign interference — while insisting that sovereignty serve all its citizens equally.

Memory

The martyrs of July

We preserve the names, the testimony and the evidence, so that the record of the uprising cannot be erased or rewritten.

02

Our demands

These are the positions of Inqilab Moncho UK, placed on the record for the international community.

01

Justice for the July 2024 killings

A transparent, independent process — domestic and international — to hold those responsible for the deaths of ~1,400 people accountable, consistent with the UN OHCHR fact-finding report.

02

Full implementation of the July Charter

The July National Charter — signed by more than two dozen parties and endorsed by referendum in February 2026 — must be implemented faithfully and in full, including the transitional-justice questions it left unanswered. The mandate of the uprising cannot be diluted or delayed.

03

An end to border killings and unlawful push-ins

India must end the use of lethal force against unarmed civilians at the frontier, prosecute past killings through credible investigation, and reopen Felani Khatun's case. It must also halt the expulsion of people across the border without due process or proof of nationality, in line with international law.

04

Justice for Sharif Osman Hadi

A full, transparent investigation into the killing of our spokesperson, the extradition of accused persons sheltering abroad, and disclosure of any cross-border involvement.

05

Respect for Bangladesh's sovereignty

No foreign power, and no domestic actor acting on its behalf, may seek to divide Bangladesh's territory. Sovereignty and minority safety are not in conflict — we defend both.

03

July 2024 — the record

In the summer of 2024, a student protest over civil-service job quotas grew into a nationwide uprising. The government's response — documented by the United Nations — was lethal force on a mass scale. In 46 days, as many as 1,400 people were killed.

16 JUL 2024
Abu Sayed stands unarmed, arms spread, and is shot dead by police in Rangpur — ruled an extrajudicial killing by the UN.
18–19 JUL
Near-total internet blackout; curfew and a "shoot-on-sight" posture. Helicopter fire reported over Dhaka neighbourhoods. Six-year-old Riya Gop is shot on her rooftop.
05 AUG
Sheikh Hasina flees to India, ending fifteen years in power. In Ashulia, bodies are burned — one victim still alive.
12 FEB 2025
The UN OHCHR fact-finding report finds reasonable grounds to believe crimes against humanity were committed.
DEC 2025
Inqilab Moncho's spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi is shot by masked gunmen in Dhaka and dies of his wounds.

Implement the July Charter

84

The July National Charter set out 84 reforms — nearly half of them constitutional — to dismantle the machinery of authoritarian rule. Signed by 26+ parties and endorsed by referendum in February 2026, it is a mandate, not yet a reality. We press for its full and faithful implementation — including the justice for July's crimes that the Charter itself left unaddressed.

Border killings & push-ins

34

Bangladeshis killed by India's BSF in 2025 alone — most unarmed; no BSF member has ever been convicted. Felani Khatun, 15, was left on the wire in 2011. Since May 2025, hundreds more have been pushed across the border without process or proof of nationality. Dhaka has formally protested.
